The Mackie Onyx12 is a premium analog USB mixer designed for recording, live sound, streaming, and rehearsal setups that need hands-on control. It combines microphone and line-source mixing with a high-resolution USB audio interface and onboard stereo SD recording. Eight Onyx microphone preamps provide up to 60 dB of gain for microphones and compatible source inputs. The mixer is built to handle vocal mics, instruments, keyboards, drum machines, playback devices, and computer audio within one workflow. Its analog channel controls offer direct access to level, EQ, monitor-send, effects-send, panning, mute, solo, and main-mix routing functions.

The Onyx12 uses Perkins-style three-band EQ sections to shape sources before they reach the mix. Mono channels include a sweepable midrange section, while stereo channels use a fixed mid frequency. Switchable 100 Hz low-cut filters help reduce unwanted low-frequency content on applicable channels.

For recording, the Onyx12 works as a 14x4 USB interface at up to 24-bit/96 kHz with Mac or PC systems. It can also record and play back stereo audio directly from an SD card, providing a computer-free option for capturing mixes. Four USB return channels can be assigned to two stereo channel strips for flexible playback routing.

A full-color Studio Command display provides access to SD-card functions and the onboard effects processor. The processor includes 12 effect presets with adjustable parameters and storage for up to six user FX presets. Bluetooth streaming adds a convenient wireless playback source for break music, reference tracks, or mobile-device audio.

Connect microphones with XLR cables, line-level equipment with 1/4-inch TRS or TS connections, and powered speakers or amplifiers from the main outputs. Use the two monitor sends for separate monitor mixes, and connect a computer through USB for multitrack recording or playback. Optional rack ears are available for fixed installations; a detachable IEC power cord is included.
