Roland FP-90X-WH 88-Key Portable Digital Piano

The Roland FP-90X-WH is an 88-key portable digital piano for home practice, lessons, recording, and live performance. It combines a full-size weighted keyboard with built-in amplification, letting players use one instrument without immediately adding external speakers. The white finish suits contemporary home, studio, and stage setups.

This model is designed for pianists who want an acoustic-style playing response in a slimmer, movable format. Its PHA-50 keyboard uses a wood-and-plastic hybrid construction, escapement, and ebony/ivory-feel key surfaces. The result is a responsive interface for expressive solo playing, accompaniment, and long practice sessions.

Roland's PureAcoustic Piano Modeling sound generator provides the FP-90X's core piano voices. Eight selected piano tones offer limitless polyphony during solo playing, while other sounds provide up to 256 notes of polyphony. Piano Designer settings, ambience controls, and My Stage environments allow players to tailor the instrument's response and presentation.

The onboard four-speaker system uses two main speakers in speaker boxes plus two dome tweeters. Rated output is 25 W x 2 plus 5 W x 2, providing self-contained sound for playing in a room without separate monitoring. A speaker switch supports quieter setups when using headphones or external amplification.

Bluetooth audio and MIDI, USB, conventional MIDI, audio input, microphone input, and stereo outputs support flexible practice and production workflows. Connect a phone or tablet for compatible apps and audio playback, a computer for USB MIDI/audio, or a PA system through the L/Mono and R outputs. Optional stand and pedal accessories can turn the portable piano into a more permanent upright-style setup.

Design & Installation

The FP-90X-WH has a streamlined portable-piano enclosure with a graphic LCD, volume control, EQ sliders, part sliders, song-volume slider, microphone controls, and speaker switch. Its 88-key PHA-50 action combines wooden sides with molded internal materials for an acoustic-inspired feel while retaining the durability expected of a digital instrument. The included music rest, AC adaptor, power cord, and DP-10 continuous-detection damper pedal provide the basic playing essentials.

Place the piano on a stable, compatible stand before use and connect the included DP-10 pedal to the Damper/R jack. For a furniture-style setup, Roland offers the KSC-90 dedicated stand and KPD-90 dedicated pedal board separately; portable stand and pedal options are also supported. Use headphones for private practice, connect L/Mono and R outputs to external amplification, or use USB and MIDI connections for recording and control setups.
