The Arturia KEYSTEP-PRO WHITE is a 37-key MIDI, USB, and CV controller keyboard with an onboard hardware sequencer. It is designed to coordinate external synthesizers, modular systems, drum machines, and computer-based instruments from one compact control surface. The unit does not generate sound itself; it sends performance, sequencing, synchronization, and control data to connected sound sources.
Its slim three-octave keyboard is velocity- and aftertouch-sensitive, giving players expressive input for melodies, bass lines, chords, and live control. LEDs above the keys provide visual feedback during performance and sequence editing. The white version uses the same KeyStep Pro sequencing platform and connection layout as the standard model.
Four sequencer tracks support arrangements across multiple external instruments, with up to 64 steps per sequence and up to 16 notes per step. Real-time recording, step recording, step editing, scale quantization, probability, time shift, and pattern randomization support detailed sequence creation without requiring a computer display. Track 1 can also be configured for drum sequencing when a rhythm-focused setup is needed.
The integrated drum sequencer provides 24 parts and supports polyrhythmic programming for external drum machines, percussion modules, and modular triggers. Performance tools include seven arpeggiator modes, chord mode, a looper strip, random playback modes, and MIDI CC control from five encoders. A crisp OLED display keeps important settings and editing information visible from the front panel.
KEYSTEP-PRO WHITE is built to bridge MIDI and analog-control workflows. Four sets of Pitch CV, Gate, and Mod outputs can control compatible analog voices, while eight drum-gate outputs provide dedicated triggers for percussion hardware. USB, MIDI, clock, metronome, and sustain connections allow it to serve as a central sequencer for a DAW-based studio, standalone hardware rig, or modular performance system.
Key Features
- 37-Key Expressive Keyboard: Slim velocity- and aftertouch-sensitive keys add dynamic and pressure-based control to performances.
- Four-Track Sequencer: Sequence multiple external melodic instruments from one desktop controller.
- 24-Part Drum Sequencer: Program percussion parts and polyrhythms for compatible drum hardware.
- 64-Step Sequences: Build extended patterns with up to 16 notes per step.
- MIDI And CV Connectivity: Integrates MIDI gear, software instruments, analog synths, and modular equipment.
- Performance Control Tools: Arpeggiator, chord mode, looper, randomization, and CC automation support hands-on playback.
Design & Installation
The controller uses a desktop-oriented layout with a rigid metal baseplate, slim 37-note keyboard, illuminated key LEDs, 16 step buttons, five rubberized encoders, capacitive looper strip, and OLED display. Its compact enclosure measures 589 x 208 x 38 mm and weighs 2.7 kg. The white finish gives this version a clean, high-visibility appearance while retaining the KeyStep Pro hardware design.
Connect the unit to a computer or tablet through USB, MIDI hardware through the 5-pin MIDI ports, and compatible analog or modular equipment through the 3.5 mm CV, Gate, Mod, drum-gate, and clock connections. Standalone operation uses the included 12V DC power supply; a USB cable is also included for host-device connectivity. Before connecting analog equipment, configure the appropriate pitch scaling, gate format, and voltage behavior for the receiving device in the Utility menu or Arturia MIDI Control Center.

Does the KeyStep Pro produce sounds on its own?
No. It is a controller keyboard and hardware sequencer, so it requires connected MIDI, USB, CV/Gate, modular, software, or drum sound sources to make sound.
Can it control modular and analog synthesizers?
Yes. It provides four sets of Pitch CV, Gate, and Mod outputs plus eight drum-gate outputs. Pitch scaling, gate format, and modulation voltage settings can be configured for compatible equipment.
Can it sequence several instruments at once?
Yes. The KeyStep Pro has four sequencer tracks and can route control to MIDI and CV-equipped instruments. Each sequence supports up to 64 steps and up to 16 notes per step.
What is included with the controller?
The box includes the KeyStep Pro unit, power supply, USB cable, Quick Start guide, and registration card. External instruments, MIDI cables, patch cables, and sustain pedal are not listed as included.
Can it synchronize with a DAW or other hardware?
Yes. It supports synchronization through USB, MIDI, and clock connections. It can operate as a clock master or follow an incoming USB, MIDI, or clock source.
Can it be used without a computer?
Yes. The KeyStep Pro is designed for standalone use with the included 12V DC power supply. A computer is optional for USB MIDI use, firmware updates, and configuration through Arturia MIDI Control Center.
