The Arturia KeyStep Pro Black is a 37-key controller keyboard and hardware sequencer built to bring MIDI instruments, modular gear, and computer-based music tools into one hands-on workflow. It gives players a central place to perform, record, edit, and synchronize patterns without relying on a mouse for every adjustment. The black edition pairs the established KeyStep Pro control layout with a dark finish.

This controller is suited to electronic musicians, keyboard players, hardware-synth users, and modular performers who need one device to coordinate several instruments. Its four sequencer tracks can be used for melodic sequencing or arpeggiation, while Track 1 can also be configured for drum sequencing. A 37-note slim keybed provides a compact playing range for desktop studios and live rigs.

Its performance character is immediate and pattern-focused, with dedicated controls for recording, step programming, editing, randomization, and looping. Velocity- and aftertouch-sensitive keys allow expressive MIDI performance, while LEDs above the keys provide visual feedback. The touch-sensitive looper strip is designed for adding fills and breaks during playback.

KeyStep Pro combines keyboard control with multi-format connectivity, including USB, MIDI, CV, Gate, Mod, drum gate, clock, and sustain-pedal connections. Four sets of CV, Gate, and Mod outputs can address separate monophonic voices or a multi-voice CV system. The onboard OLED display, five assignable encoders, scale quantization, chord mode, and arpeggiator support detailed control directly from the hardware.

In a larger system, KeyStep Pro can serve as the sequencing hub between a DAW, MIDI sound modules, vintage hardware, drum machines, and Eurorack equipment. It can send clock synchronization to compatible gear and provides a dedicated metronome with a built-in speaker and line output. A USB cable and power supply are included, so it is ready to connect to a computer and compatible instruments.

Connect the supplied power supply, then configure sequencing and synchronization settings for the connected system. A sustain pedal may be connected to the dedicated pedal input, and the metronome can be monitored through its speaker or line output.
