The Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig is a USB-C audio and MIDI interface built to serve as the connection center for hardware-focused studios, recording systems, and advanced monitoring setups. It combines 16 analog line inputs, two digitally controlled mic/instrument preamps, ADAT expansion, MIDI, word clock, and multiple monitor outputs in a 1U-capable format. It is designed for musicians and producers who need to keep several synthesizers, outboard devices, microphones, and speakers connected at once.
Its 24-bit AD/DA conversion supports sample rates up to 192 kHz, with measured dynamic range and low distortion specifications across its analog input and output stages. The two front-panel combo inputs support microphone, line, and instrument sources, with independent pad and 48V phantom-power controls. This makes the interface suitable for tracking vocals and guitars while maintaining permanent connections for keyboards and other line-level hardware.
AudioFuse 16Rig provides 16 balanced TRS line inputs and eight balanced, DC-coupled TRS line outputs. The DC-coupled outputs can carry control-voltage signals for compatible modular synthesizer and analog hardware workflows. Dedicated balanced speaker outputs, front-accessible outputs 3 and 4, and a stereo headphone section provide flexible monitoring and signal-routing options.
Digital expansion is handled through dual ADAT input and output ports, providing up to 16 channels of ADAT I/O at 48 kHz or eight channels at 88.2 or 96 kHz. BNC word-clock input and output support synchronization with compatible digital equipment. MIDI connectivity includes one 5-pin DIN input, two assignable DIN output/thru ports, a USB MIDI host connection, and an analog clock output.
For daily operation, the interface combines a color front-panel display with AudioFuse Control Center software for routing, setup, and mixer management. Two standalone internal mixers allow operation without a computer connection, while the main mixer can be controlled by MIDI. Its removable rack ears can be arranged for 1U rack installation or tabletop use, allowing the unit to fit into a compact desktop setup or a larger studio rack.
Key Features
- 16 Analog Line Inputs: Keeps multiple synthesizers, drum machines, and outboard sources connected simultaneously.
- Two Recallable Preamps: Supports microphones, guitars, basses, and line-level sources from the front panel.
- DC-Coupled Outputs: Sends audio or compatible CV signals to modular and analog hardware.
- Dual ADAT I/O: Adds digital expansion for larger recording and playback systems.
- Standalone Mixers: Provides routing and submix capability without a connected computer.
- Flexible Monitor Control: Supports speakers, headphones, A/B monitoring, and immersive monitoring layouts.
Design & Installation
AudioFuse 16Rig uses a robust metal chassis in a single-space rack form factor. Its bright orange rack ears can be positioned for rackmount installation or used as front supports for tabletop placement, with rear feet supplied for stable desktop use. Front-panel controls, display metering, quick-access buttons, and connector access are arranged for hands-on studio operation.
Connect the interface to a compatible Mac or Windows computer through its USB-C computer port, then use balanced TRS cables for line sources, monitor speakers, and analog outputs. Use the front combo inputs for microphones, instruments, or additional line sources, and connect ADAT or BNC word-clock cables when expanding or synchronizing a digital system. AudioFuse Control Center is useful for configuring routing, monitoring, mixer functions, and device settings.
