The EMB Professional EMIC-DK9 is a seven-piece wired microphone kit designed to capture a complete drum setup with dedicated microphones for kick, snare, toms, and overhead applications. Standard XLR connectivity supports integration with compatible microphone inputs.

This kit is suited to drummers, rehearsal spaces, small venues, home studios, and recording users who need multi-microphone drum coverage in one package. Its single large dynamic microphone is intended for bass drums and other low-frequency instruments, while the four compact dynamic microphones target snare drums and tom-toms. The two condenser microphones add options for capturing cymbals, overall kit detail, or other instruments.

The large dynamic bass-drum microphone is specified with a 20 Hz to 10 kHz frequency response, 200-ohm output impedance, and a unidirectional pickup pattern. The smaller dynamic microphones extend to 16 kHz for snare and tom use, also with unidirectional patterns and 200-ohm output impedance. This focused microphone arrangement helps keep each drum position organized within a multi-channel setup.

For overhead or broader instrument capture, the included condenser microphones offer a 60 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response and a maximum SPL rating of 136 dB. Their unidirectional design and greater than 60 dB signal-to-noise ratio support use around a drum kit or other amplified instruments. The kit combines close-miking options with condenser microphones in a single carrying case.

EMB Professional includes mounting hardware to help position the microphones directly on compatible drum rims or on standard microphone stands. Four snare/tom clamps serve the compact dynamic microphones, while two holders support the condenser microphones. With XLR outputs, standard 3/8-inch and 5/8-inch stand-thread compatibility, windscreens, and a carry case, the EMIC-DK9 can be used as the microphone foundation for a drum recording or sound-reinforcement system.

Design & Installation

The EMIC-DK9 uses a mixed microphone layout with one large dynamic microphone, four small dynamic microphones, and two condenser microphones. Its black microphones are supplied in a carry case for storage and transport. The package also includes four clamp-style drum mounts and two condenser microphone holders.

Mount the four compact dynamic microphones to compatible drum rims using the included clamps, then position the large dynamic microphone for bass-drum or low-frequency-instrument capture. The condenser microphones can be installed in their holders on compatible stands using 3/8-inch or 5/8-inch threads. Connect each microphone through its XLR output to compatible audio equipment and adjust placement for the desired drum balance.
